Stay Fit at Crown

Crown Fitness Club was built in 1979 as part of the Crown Community site

The club was originally built as a Squash Club, serving a large geographical area. Squash at its peak at the club attracted around 300 members but during the 90’s a decline in squash members saw the membership drop to below 30.

The fitness area at the club consisted of some old and in need of replacement, cardio and weights. This was replaced with state of the art fitness equipment and an express resistance circuit.

Since its refurbishment the club has changed dramatically. It has evolved and developed into a great place for members of the local community to exercise in friendly surroundings supervised by knowledgeable and experienced staff.

The club has enjoyed further development and now consists of three specific areas – a cardio area complete with running machines, cross trainers, rowers, bikes and steppers; a weights area consisting of resistance machines, Olympic weights and pull up bars and a functional area / studio to run a variety of classes and use a range of functional fitness equipment.

Green Credentials
The Crown Fitness Club prides itself on its green credentials and its environmental impact.
The Club achieved the Green Dragon Environmental Standard Level 2 in June 2005. Since then it has made all efforts to reduce waste, recycle where possible and save energy in all that it does.

  • The club has converted 100% of its lights to energy saving bulbs.
  • Last year we recycled approximately 240kg of plastic bottles.
  • We no longer sell single use plastic bottles
  • We require all members to take home their rubbish and recycle it where possible
